Polyester tapes offer the following advantages:

sticks to almost all clean and flat surfaces (plastic, paper, metal, wood, glass, etc.)
water-repellent - resistant to water, oil, grease and weaker solvents
resistant to UV radiation
slit on the back - for easy removal of the writing tape from the carrier tape
